Day 21: Mackay

Activities > Sailing North 2013

Reprovisioning & housekeeping was the order of the day. The marina offered a half day car hire which was handy as the nearest Woolies was about 8km away at Andergrove.
The Woolies was a new style one and quite alright with a decent selection and even vacuum packed porterhouse steak.
We had more or less consumed all the biscuits and cake so Deborah baked another fruit cake.
Friends-of-friends Sue & Kerrie who live at the marina and sail a Lightwave cat, kindly invited the crew to dinner. They even invited our friends Alexander & Shanna who we had planned to meet up with. Sue cooked up a storm and it was a great evening as we were all keen sailors, the main difference being our coastal domain versus their 7 year around-the-world sailing experience. It appears that external studies curriculum for children-on-board is so good, that coupled with seeing the world they gain an education advantage, not the opposite as one may anticipate.

A stunning tropical sunset at Macay Marina
