Day 27: Hamilton Is – Shag Islet (Passage Is.) in Gloucester Passage

Activities > Sailing North 2013

This video clip was taken as we sailed north in the Whitsunday Passage, just east of North Molle Island.Delightful cruising with almost perfect spinnaker sailing conditions. 15 knots of wind 25 degrees off direct downwind delivering a boat speed over the ground (SOG) of 10 knots.
The crew members are reading the paper and iPadding while the autopilot does the steering.
An Aquagen tow generator is deployed to generate power.
The picture is improved byuing the Youtube settings for a higher resolution.

Catamaran cruising under spinnaker

Roughly west of George Point is the aptly named and quite interesting looking Saddleback Island.

The aptly named Saddleback Island

Passing by Cape Gloucester, just around the corner is Shag Islet (Passage Island), home of the Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club. The Skipper and Navigatrix are members/Vice Commodores of this charitable organization.

Approaching Shag Islet from the south.
