The boat had not been out for several weeks and there were a few things to do before setting off.
A bird had decided to nest in the sail cover. A couple of weeks earlier and it was tiny white with blue flecked eggs which I decided not to disturb.
I thought I would take a picture and was surprised to see that they had hatched. After another week or so they had flown off and we could finally get going.
The nice new Rosewood and Silver Ash main salon table was waiting for installation which required conversion from one leg plus pole to two legs plus pole to improve strength and stability.
The original table was vey light weight and was only attached to the pole. It could swing around for cleaning etc. but was just too unstable in heavy weather despite multiple tethers, so it had to go.
The bow chainplates were strengthened after one bent under high load. spinnaker and screacher attachment eyes were also added in a stronger area.
The special Selden fittings to tame the continuous line furler of the screacher had arrived from the US and were also installed.
This was quite fiddly as the double block & cam had to be dismantled and the screw heads were special.
After taking on water, fuel and provisions we were off to Michaelmas Cay and Fitzroy Island.
The weather was delightful, although a little hot for comfort.
Navigatrix taking it easy; no choice in that matter after snapping her leg.
