Day 23: Goldsmith Is. – Hamilton Is. - Sawmill Bay

Activities > Sailing North 2013

Wednesday, 5-June-2013

It was quite a windy night with gentle rocking & rolling.
It rained heavily around 05:00 and remained overcast all morning.
07:40 We weighed anchor and motor sailed on autopilot, SOG 6 knots, TWS 22 knots, TWA 150degrees.
In Dent Passage we phoned Hamilton Island Marina and booked one night the following Sunday ($105)Casual visitors are charged $17.50/hour! Today we were picking up Mike's wife Jenny who was flying in and planned to drop her back on Sunday.
It rained again but had cut back to drizzle by the time we arrived at the marina at mid-day.
We had long hot showers and lunch when Jenny arrived.

15:10 departed the marina and hoisted the spinnaker for our run up towards Hayman Is, Blue Pearl Bay.

16:45 The drizzle had stopped, the wind had dropped so we decided to anchor at Sawmill Bay and have a proper relaxing sundowner and dinner.

Dinner...in case we ever forget:-

Sundowners: King Is. blue brie, washed rind soft cheese, Maggie Beer's duck pate, washed down with Crozer champagne.

Dinner: Green chicken curry with zucchini and 'surprise' peas added.
Our first dessert on this trip; Jenny made asumptuous chocolate refrigerator cake (Lindt 70%, digestives, prunes steeped in sherry, glace cherries, pistachios, pecans, golden syrup) Serious stuff!
